NATIONAL SERVICE
STARTS AT HOME
Dear Friends,

Thank you to everyone who came out to support Saturday’s 2020 Service Academy Day! We had a full house – even as we practiced social distancing – and enjoyed an informative program that I trust will prove useful for our nation’s future cadets and midshipmen.

The program, which was held in the Goldstein Center for the Performing Arts Auditorium at Georgia Military College (GMC), included an inspiring message from GMC President Lieutenant General (Ret.) William B. Caldwell, IV, a presentation on pursuing a congressional nomination, and a question and answer session with a panel of service academy representatives. After the one-hour program, students and parents enjoyed a networking opportunity where they spoke with representatives one-on-one and gathered informational material.

If you missed it, we’ve got you covered. Simply log on to my congressional Facebook page and watch the two-part streamed video of this program. For those seeking my nomination this year, visit my website to access the application which is due Friday, October 23, 2020.

A Return to Our Roots
Inside the Morgan County Courthouse in beautiful, historic Madison, I was honored to join community members for the unveiling of the Foundations of American Law & Government display.

Comprised of nine historic documents, including the Ten Commandments, Mayflower Compact, and Declaration of Independence, this exhibit celebrates the significant roles these documents played in the establishment of our system of law and government.

If you are ever in downtown Madison, I strongly encourage you to stop by and visit this historical document display, which contains the founding documents of our American Constitutional law.

Feeding Kindness

Serving about 250 families in the Greene County area, volunteers, elected officials, and National Guard members recently set up a drive-thru food giveaway. On Tuesday, August 25th, volunteers, including a member of my staff, provided families in need with a 20-pound box of canned goods and fresh food items, such as tomatoes, milk, and watermelon.

I’m so grateful for the partnership of Golden Harvest Food Bank, Second Harvest, Greene County Food Pantry, and every community member who volunteered their time for such a worthy endeavor. It’s people like you who make the 10th Congressional District such a wonderful place to live!
