| Americans and Allies Still Trapped Behind Enemy Lines |
Dear Friends,
Since President Biden’s botched Afghanistan withdrawal, my office remains in contact with Americans and Afghan allies STILL trapped behind enemy lines. In fact, my office, as well as other congressional offices, have often been the ONLY official government points of contact for those still hoping to reach safety.
With each passing day, it becomes more and more difficult to safely evacuate the individuals that the Biden Administration abandoned. And to no surprise, the State Department and Secretary Blinken have been missing in action.
After weeks of underwhelming effort by President Biden and his Administration to evacuate the citizens and allies they left behind, I led a letter with ten of my colleagues demanding they expedite the evacuation for all those still desperately seeking escape from Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.
Specifically, our letter urges the U.S. Department of State and the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) to speed up the evacuation from Afghanistan by deploying consulate teams to neighboring countries, establishing temporary staging areas for vetting and processing in third-party partner nations, cutting bureaucratic red tape within the State Department, and committing the personnel and resources necessary to accomplish this mission through the end of 2022. Furthermore, the letter requests that the State Department and OMB provide a list of congressional actions needed to complete the evacuation of all U.S. citizens, visa holders, and allies within ten days.
It is despicable that the Biden Administration abandoned these people in the President’s catastrophic withdrawal, and it is totally unacceptable that they remain trapped behind enemy lines.
As our office continues to remain in contact with the U.S. citizens and Afghans who have been hung out to dry by Joe Biden, our letter presents a clear list of critical actions that the Administration should have undertaken weeks ago. This is long past due! We demand that they move NOW to complete this evacuation as swiftly as possible.
We must bring Americans home! We must get our allies to safety! And we must hold the current Administration accountable!
The American people have had enough of President Biden’s miscalculations and incompetence!

| Biden’s Economic Crisis Rages On |
Last week, the U.S. Department of Labor released yet another terrible jobs report – marking the second-straight month that the U.S. economy added far fewer jobs than expected.
The U.S. economy added just 194,000 jobs compared to the 500,000 jobs economists expected in September, and the woes do not stop there. In September ALONE, women LOST 26,000 jobs, local government education LOST 144,000 jobs, nursing and residential care facilities LOST 38,000 jobs, private education LOST 19,000 jobs, healthcare LOST 18,000 jobs, and the list goes on and on and on.
America’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic has hit a massive roadblock. That roadblock? Joe Biden.
Even the liberal mainstream media is speaking out against the Biden Administration’s September jobs report. That’s when you know it’s horrible!
CNN called the report, "Another disappointment: US economy adds only 194,000 jobs in September."
The Washington Post said, "U.S. economy added 194,000 jobs in September, another weak month heading into final stretch of 2021."
And USA Today reported the, "Economy adds disappointing 194,000 jobs in September as schools reopen but COVID spikes linger."
Disappointing and weak are certainly all words that describe the Biden Administration’s actions since taking office, and the latest job’s report follows that trend.
It is the worst jobs report of Joe Biden's presidency!
Folks, I will say it till I am blue in the face: far-Left socialist policies are continuing to bog down our economic recovery, and Americans are paying the cost.
Americans are paying more at the pump, more at the grocery store, and more for just about EVERYTHING. Everyday Americans cannot afford Joe Biden, and the latest jobs report proves that Biden's economic crisis will continue to rage on!

| Hice Headliner: October |
|
In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I recently presented Kimberly Bennett with my October Hice Headliner Award. Kimberly is Executive Director of Circle of Love Center in Greensboro, where she works tirelessly to serve victims of domestic abuse in Greene, Morgan, Putnam, Baldwin, and Hancock counties.
Circle of Love Center is an emergency safe shelter and resource center for domestic violence victims and their children. In the two-and-half years that Kimberly has led the organization, she has added new staff positions and provided additional services, such as resume assistance, transportation to and from jobs, and ensuring the availability of psychiatric care. She has successfully secured essential grants and donations that have been used to build an outside pavilion, a flower garden, an urban vegetable garden, and a sports court for the kids. These quality-of-life enhancements help families heal in a safe environment and encourage children to engage in outside activities and healthy exercise. Soon, local Boy Scouts will install a new playground, and Kimberly’s next project is to add a Teen Space to the facility.
There is no doubt that Kimberly is an impactful leader with a passion for helping people! She never stops planning for the future in her mission to improve everyday life for the victims of Domestic Violence. Thank you, Kimberly, for all that you do!

Applying for a Congressional Academy Nomination
|
|
One of my favorite responsibilities as your representative is to help 10th District students attend one of our nation’s U.S. Service Academies through my nomination process. Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
If you would like to pursue an appointment to one of our prestigious U.S. service academies, my deadline for nomination applications is quickly approaching. My office must receive your completed application packets by Friday, October 22, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. Click here to download the application. And if you’d like to learn more, visit my website and sign up for my quarterly service academy newsletter. This email newsletter has helpful advice for those applying for a nomination, reminders about important upcoming dates, and encouraging updates from former service academy nominees.
