| Democrats in Disarray |
Dear Friends,
For the past few months, Speaker Pelosi has promised progressives that she would not bring the $1.2 TRILLION infrastructure package up for a vote without their $3.5 TRILLION socialist reconciliation bill. However, after the House Budget Committee revealed the true cost of their reckless reconciliation bill to be $4.3 TRILLION, Speaker Pelosi flip-flopped. As of now, she plans to bring the Green New Deal infrastructure package to the House Floor for a vote on Thursday, but their socialist reconciliation bill is still in chaos.
The Democrats are in disarray!
Speaker Pelosi is struggling to maintain her hyper-partisan hold over congressional Democrats as they continue to bicker with one another. She is prioritizing her personal to-do list over the issues that REALLY matter to everyone else all while trying to pass the most expensive piece of legislation in the history of the United States.
But what Speaker Pelosi won’t do is talk about the actual cost of the reconciliation package, and it’s all because she does not want to admit that YOU will be footing the bill for their $4.3 TRILLION socialist wish list.
This is "we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it" all over again!
Astonishingly, President Biden claims his $5.5 TRILLION agenda costs ZERO dollars. Fact check, money doesn’t grow on trees – even the Washington Post agrees.
I am tired of the Democrats lies. I am tired of their half-truths. And I am tired of their out-of-control spending.
The American people deserve transparency, and it’s certainly transparent that Democrats want to use YOUR hard-earned money as their personal piggy bank for their socialist spending sprees.

| The Hypocrisy is Deafening |
|
Time and again, Democrats demonstrate a disturbing lack of self-awareness on their own hypocrisy.
First, it was Speaker Pelosi’s visit to her hair salon without a face mask despite local ordinances to keep salons closed during the coronavirus pandemic. Then, it was California Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom violating his own social distancing rules by attending a birthday party. Now, Democrats claim that abortion – the death of an unborn child – is an individual healthcare choice while simultaneously enforcing unconstitutional vaccine mandates to pressure individuals to accept medical treatments against their will.
Their hypocrisy is deafening!
Democrats have long had a “rules for thee but not for me” attitude, especially throughout the pandemic, but this latest argument is just mind-blowing.
Let’s take a look at what a few of my Democratic colleagues had to say on the House Floor about the passage of H.R. 3755, the so-called "Women's Health Protection Act," which would repeal nearly all pro-life laws across the country and allow abortion at any time and for any reason right up to birth.
"Madam Speaker, let me be clear, everyone, everywhere should have the freedom to make their own personal healthcare decisions without interference from politicians."
"It is past time we took the power to make deeply personal healthcare decisions out of governors’ mansions and state legislators and put them back where they belong in the hands of patients and their doctors."
"It is about bodily autonomy."
"It is a deeply personal choice about control of our own bodies."
"I'll decide what happens to my body, and you decide what happens to yours. I'll decide what's best for my health in my life, and you decide what's best for yours."
Sound familiar? Many similar statements have been made to argue against vaccine mandates!
Despite the fact that abortion impacts two people, the mother and the child, Democrats still make the bogus argument that abortion is an individual choice. At the same time, however, Democrats want to force Americans to take a COVID-19 vaccine with little to no consideration of natural immunity or religious and medical exemptions. Incredibly, Democrats continue to use these talking points with a straight face!
Folks, I’ll say it till I’m blue in the face: terminating innocent human lives is not healthcare. Period. Democrats’ latest push to dramatically expand the abortion industrial complex in America has absolutely nothing to do with individual freedom in healthcare. This is about appeasing the radical Left and the abortion lobby, plain and simple.
It is long past time that Democrats take a long, hard look in the mirror to reflect on their hypocrisy.

Tax Filing and Payment Extension Deadline is Approaching
|
|
If you requested an extension to file your 2020 tax returns, the deadline is quickly approaching on October 15th. To avoid the penalty for filing late, there are electronic filing options, such as the IRS Free File. Additionally, the electronic payment options are the best way to make a tax payment, and IRS Direct Pay allows taxpayers to pay online directly from a checking or savings account for free.
You can view your online account to see important information regarding your taxes including, estimated tax amounts and Economic Impact Payment amounts. As a reminder, if you did not receive the full amounts of both Economic Impact Payments, you may claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 federal tax return. Additionally, if you have not yet filed your 2020 taxes, the IRS is using previous year tax information to determine Child Tax Credit payments for those eligible, but they will use your 2020 taxes to update payment amounts.
To receive tax refunds, you can set them up using direct deposit to deposit the refund into one, two, or three accounts. Those who wait too long to file risk losing their refund altogether so make sure to file by October 15th.

| Applying for a Congressional Academy Nomination |
One of my favorite responsibilities as your representative is to help 10th District students attend one of our nation’s U.S. Service Academies through my nomination process. Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
If you would like to pursue an appointment to one of our prestigious U.S. service academies, my deadline for nomination applications is quickly approaching. My office must receive your completed application packets by Friday, October 22, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. Click here to download the application. And if you’d like to learn more, visit my website and sign up for my quarterly service academy newsletter. This email newsletter has helpful advice for those applying for a nomination, reminders about important upcoming dates, and encouraging updates from former service academy nominees.

| National Blue Ribbon Schools Award |
Last Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Education announced the winners of the 2021 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award. This award is given to schools recognized for their overall academic excellence or their progress in closing achievement gaps among student groups, and I am proud to announce that High Shoals Elementary School in Oconee County was one of 325 schools across the nation recognized for their overall academic excellence.
Congratulations to High Shoals Elementary School on this amazing achievement, and a special thanks to all the hard-working teachers, administrators, and families who had to get creative to help students thrive in a safe learning environment during last year's unprecedented times.
I am proud to represent so many amazing schools throughout Georgia’s 10th District, but I am especially proud when they receive national recognition.
Sincerely,
|
