Prepare Now for Hurricane Season
Dear Friends,

September marks National Preparedness Month, and I encourage folks to talk to their family and loved ones about plans in case of a disaster or emergency. With hurricane season already underway, please join me in praying for everyone who is currently being impacted by Hurricane Dorian. I urge family and friends in this powerful storm’s path to visit weather.gov or hurricanes.gov for more information on Hurricane Dorian.

Tips and tools:
  • Develop an evacuation plan for your family, including your pets;
  • Stock up on essential supplies, like non-perishable food and bottled water;
  • Always follow guidance from emergency officials both for evacuating before the storm and returning to an affected area afterwards;
  • Stay informed by downloading the FEMA App to receive real-time alerts from the National Weather Service and get additional preparedness information; and
  • Visit gema.georgia.gov for information on emergency preparedness, shelters, road closures, and evacuation routes.
I also encourage you to follow @GeorgiaEMA on Twitter and monitor local radio and television outlets for live updates. I want to thank our state and local officials, as well as our first responders and emergency personnel who are monitoring the trajectory of the severe storm.

To learn more about the important steps you can take in your home and community to always be ready in an emergency, please visit ready.gov.

Hice on the Homefront
I was thrilled to meet with so many wonderful people in the district last week. From meetings in my Monroe District Office to a fantastic seniors forum in Loganville, it’s been an honor talking with folks on the ground.

A big thank you to Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr, federal and state government agencies, and community leaders for providing a space and opportunity for seniors to access the local resources available to them. Without a doubt, great things are happening in our area, and I’m grateful for the chance to serve the 10th District.

Taking on the Drug Cartel
On the latest episode of the Freedom Caucus Podcast, Sheriff Mark Lamb of Pinal County, Arizona, an area hit hard by the immigration crisis, describes how Mexican cartels are smuggling illegals through the border left and right. During the episode, he also discusses how his community has become a hotspot for traffickers who are accelerating the national emergency on our southern border.
