There are two important deadlines coming up shortly; the deadline to fill out the 2020 Census ends at midnight tonight, and the 2020 military academy nominee application, due October 23.  More information below.

Folks, as you have seen from my newsletter and social media accounts, the Census deadline was pushed back— TODAY is the FINAL day you can register. It has never been easier to complete the census. Your responses are both safe and secure. Don’t worry, the information provided is only used to produce statistical data, which helps to determine how much federal funding our communities receive each year for everything from schools to economic development.

One of my favorite things I get to do in this job is to help 10th District students to attend one of our nation’s U.S. Service Academies through my nomination process. Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment. 

In March 2019, Congressman Hice congratulated Susan Walker on her appointment to the United States Air Force Academy.
