One of my favorite things I get to do in this job is to help 10th District students to attend one of our nation’s U.S. Service Academies through my nomination process. Members of Congress may nominate candidates for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: U.S. Military Academy (USMA), West Point, NY; the U.S. Naval Academy (USNA), Annapolis, MD; the U.S. Air Force Academy (USAFA), Colorado Springs, CO; and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), Kings Point, NY. The fifth service academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Academy (USCGA), New London, CT, does not require a congressional nomination for appointment.
In March 2019, Congressman Hice congratulated Susan Walker on her appointment to the United States Air Force Academy.
If you would like to pursue an appointment to one of our prestigious U.S. service academies, my deadline for nomination applications is fast-approaching. My office must receive your completed application packets by Friday, October 23, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. Click here to download the application. And if you’d like to learn more, sign up for my quarterly Service Academy newsletter.
This email newsletter has helpful advice for those applying for a nomination, reminders about important upcoming dates, and encouraging updates from former service academy nominees.
