TRANSCRIPT: “Since 1973, more or less 50 years, there have been estimated some 60 million babies aborted in the United States - an unbelievable number. I am fully convinced that Roe v. Wade is unconstitutional, certainly morally reprehensible. And scientifically, it's just inaccurate. We obviously know from science that an unborn baby is a human being. In fact, at five weeks, the baby has a heartbeat. At 10 weeks, it has arms, legs, fingers, and toes. By 15 weeks, it has a fully developed heart and can feel pain. And so, we come to this incredibly important decision that is going to be made in the months to come. And we understand why this crowd is here. So much is at stake. This is literally the moment, perhaps, that Roe v. Wade can be overturned.

The United States is one of only seven countries in the world that allows elective abortions after 20 weeks. So, the United States - just think of it - we're in company with countries like China and North Korea. Even liberal Europe has major restrictions on elective abortions after 12 weeks, and this bill under discussion is dealing with 15 weeks.

So, a lot is at stake. Obviously, we need to understand that every life is a gift of God. And we need to protect it at all costs. I'm very honored to be among a group of Members of Congress, who signed an amicus brief to the Supreme Court urging them to stand for life. And I'm honored now to be with thousands of other Americans who are standing for life.”

Help with a Federal Agency

One of the most important things I do as a U.S. Representative is help people with federal problems. Although I cannot override the decisions made by a federal agency, I can often intervene on a person’s behalf to answer questions, find solutions, or just cut through the red tape. Please know that I cannot force an agency to act in favor of a constituent. However, I can help communicate the circumstances and request that they take appropriate actions to assist you.
