Congressman Jody Hice with Hice Headliner David Titus

During the July 8th meeting of the Columbia County Republican Women, Congressman Jody Hice (GA-10) presented David Titus with the Hice Headliner Award. An Army officer veteran and former Columbia County commissioner, David serves as president of the board of directors for Columbia County Cares Food Pantry. This nonprofit organization is an all-volunteer operation serving more than 480 families each month.

“As a founding member, David has been faithful to Columbia County Cares for nearly 24 years, serving on the board of directors and assisting with food acquisition,” said Congressman Hice. “Director Donna Player says he’s kind, caring, and passionate about the organization, encouraging new donations and helping where needed. Treasurer of the Board John Vigna describes Dave as honest, humble, and generous – not just with his time but with his financial expertise. Volunteering with the food pantry is just one of the many ways in which Dave contributes to his community.  He is also National Commander of the Military Order of World Wars and a member of Knights of the Columbus as well as the Association of the United States Army.”

Each month, Congressman Hice recognizes one outstanding local citizen who goes above and beyond to help their neighbors and strengthen our community. To nominate an outstanding individual, please send an email to

Help with a Federal Agency

One of the most important things I do as a U.S. Representative is help people with federal problems. Although I cannot override the decisions made by a federal agency, I can often intervene on a person’s behalf to answer questions, find solutions, or just cut through the red tape. Please know that I cannot force an agency to act in favor of a constituent. However, I can help communicate the circumstances and request that they take appropriate actions to assist you.
