Why is Biden getting a free pass on sexual assault allegations? Abortion.

The handling of sexual assault allegations against former Vice President Joe Biden once again has exposed the fundamental insincerity of the Left and its allies in the liberal media. When they’re put to the test and forced to judge one of their own, Democrats have shown that they don’t measure up to their supposed moral standards. In truth, they only have double standards: one for themselves and one for everyone else.

Let’s take a step back to recall the political firestorm surrounding the Senate confirmation of then-Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh in fall 2018.

Already opposed to Kavanaugh for political reasons, Senate Democrats seized upon the allegations put forward by Christine Blasey Ford, who said she was sexually assaulted by the nominee in high school. The media lionized Ford with wall-to-wall media coverage week after week, putting her on a pedestal as a champion of the #MeToo movement. It quickly became obvious that the salacious allegations were completely uncorroborated and that not a shred of real evidence supported Ford’s story. Ultimately, the public saw through the media circus and political theater. Kavanaugh was confirmed by the Senate and rightfully took his place on the Supreme Court.

No element of the political Left was more vocal or more aggressive during the Kavanaugh confirmation than the activist cadres of the pro-abortion movement. Masquerading as women’s rights activists, these liberal organizations launched an all-out assault on Kavanaugh. Social media platforms were filled with campaigns and hashtags such as #BelieveSurvivors. Millions of dollars were spent on national television advertising. Thousands of abortion activists flooded the Capitol and streets of Washington to protest the nomination. A nationwide walkout was organized to show solidarity with Ford and her story.

All of that, of course, is the long-ago and apparently long-forgotten world of 2018. It has now been well over a month since a woman named Tara Reade came forward with her story, detailing how she was sexually assaulted by her boss, then-Sen. Joe Biden, in 1993. Since coming forward, Reade’s story has been corroborated by a friend, a neighbor, and video footage of her mother calling into a Larry King Live episode. Indeed, Reade’s allegations already have far more supporting evidence than anything that was ever leveled against Kavanaugh.

So, where are the walkouts supporting her story? Where are the hashtag media campaigns? Where are the multimillion-dollar, cross-platform ad buys? Where are the commendations for her bravery from prominent Democrats? Where are the pro-abortion advocates, the self-appointed “champions” of women’s health and women’s rights?

Nowhere to be found. These voices have fallen silent.

The Daily Beast contacted 10 of the most powerful pro-abortion organizations, including Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice America, and the National Organization for Women, to request comment on the Reade allegations. Not a single group commented.

Kavanaugh was villainized and treated as guilty from the moment the Ford allegations emerged. Meanwhile, Joe Biden is being given a free pass as weeks passed without having to answer tough questions about the Reade story.

The answer is simple. Hypocrisy. These groups now have a cynical self-interest in ensuring Biden doesn’t have to answer to the Reade allegations: He is the presumptive last chance that the Left has to avoid four more years of President Trump.

Trump has been one of the most significant pro-life leaders this country has ever seen. He has issued a standing pledge to veto any legislation that might threaten the right to life for the unborn and has nominated hundreds of pro-life judges. He made history by being the first president to speak in-person at the March for Life. His administration reinstated the “Mexico City Policy” to block federal funds from going to international organizations that perform abortions overseas. Most notably, Trump has deprived Planned Parenthood of its precious Title X federal funding. In short, the president has made himself public enemy No. 1 for the abortion industry.

Meanwhile, Biden has unashamedly acquiesced to the abortion lobby’s every demand. For example, he epically flip-flopped on whether federal taxpayer dollars should be used to pay for abortions by reversing his stance on the Hyde Amendment. He also announced that he would impose a litmus test on any prospective Supreme Court justices on the issue and says he is committed to “expanding access to contraception and [protecting] the constitutional right to an abortion.”

Put simply, Biden is good for the abortion business. So, it seems that he gets a pass on whether his accuser should be believed. By engaging in this rank hypocrisy, pro-abortion groups have once again shown their true colors. The next time they step to the podium to deliver us all a blustering lecture on how much they care for women, remember that, deep down, all they really care about is abortion.

Help with a Federal Agency

One of the most important things I do as a U.S. Representative is help constituents work through issues with federal agencies. Although I cannot override the decisions made by a federal agency, I can often intervene on a constituent’s behalf to get answers to questions, find solutions, or just cut through the red tape. Below you will find a list of agencies with which I can help you. However, regardless of which agency you need help navigating, you must complete a privacy authorization form to comply with the provisions of the Privacy Act. Please download this printable version of the casework authorization form and then fax or mail to the address listed under the agency from which you are seeking assistance.
