Washington D.C. – Today, Congressman Jody Hice (GA-10) announced that he will host a Veterans Appreciation Event featuring the documentary about the Honor Flight program, a non-profit organization that transports our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their respective memorials. The event will be held at the University of North Georgia’s Oconee Campus where Congressman Hice will make opening remarks and present certificates of special recognition to more than 20 veterans for their courageous service in World War II. Congressman Hice released the following statement about the event:
“World War II veterans and members of the greatest generation are a group of individuals full of towering achievement and modest demeanor,” said Congressman Hice. “It is my honor and privilege to host this event which honors WWII veterans for their sacrifice and service to our Nation. I truly look forward to hearing their stories and to showing my appreciation to these brave men and women.”
The Clarke Central High School ROTC will present the colors and student veterans from the University of North Georgia will serve as hosts and ushers for guests.
