Washington, D.C. – Every day, I hear from veterans throughout the 10th District. These conversations and requests for assistance are often incredibly disheartening, and it’s clear that our Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) healthcare system requires significant and fundamental reform to ensure that these brave heroes are receiving the treatment they’ve earned in the line of duty. Unfortunately, all too often, they don’t. These men and women wait months for treatment – available to them only at... Read more

Washington, D.C. – As we reflect this Memorial Day, I encourage you to consider the words of Pierre Claeyssens, a stalwart supporter of the American military, who said, “To be killed in war is not the worst that can happen. To be lost is not the worst. To be forgotten is the worst.” While many of us will use this weekend to take trips with our families or grill out with neighbors, first and foremost this is a holiday dedicated to honoring the men and women who so bravely served our great Nation ... Washington, D.C. - Veteran suicide is not only a VA problem—it is an American problem. Just last month, two Georgia veterans took their own lives in front of Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities. Days later, a war hero in Texas decided to commit suicide while waiting in a VA medical center. Sadly, they are far from the only ones. Roughly 20 active-duty servicemembers and veterans commit suicide every single day. That’s more than 7,000 in a year. Our men and women in uniform are suffering, and it’s c... Read more

Help with a Federal Agency

One of the most important things I do as a U.S. Representative is help constituents work through issues with federal agencies. Although I cannot override the decisions made by a federal agency, I can often intervene on a constituent’s behalf to get answers to questions, find solutions, or just cut through the red tape. Below you will find a list of agencies with which I can help you. However, regardless of which agency you need help navigating, you must complete a privacy authorization form to comply with the provisions of the Privacy Act. Please download this printable version of the casework authorization form and then fax or mail to the address listed under the agency from which you are seeking assistance.
