In Case You Missed It… Time is up, let's build the wall December 13, 2018 By Rep. Jody Hice (R-GA) Serving in “the people’s house,” my fellow representatives and I have a particularly direct charge: As the closest federal branch to the public, we in particular should reflect the will of the public in our actions. While some important progress has been made in the past two years under the leadership of President Trump and a unified Republican government, like the historic overhaul of our tax syst...

Washington, D.C. – I often tell people that the Peach State is a great place to live, work, and raise a family, and I’m humbled to serve the good folks of Georgia’s 10th Congressional District. My dedication to service drives me to fight for you, your family, and your values. My job is about ensuring that I’m helping as many residents as possible and being your strongest voice in Congress. From McDonough to Evans to Athens to Wrens and everywhere in between, we are working tirelessly to assist G...

Opportunity matters. That’s why I’ve always been a strong advocate of driving job creation, cutting taxes, and reducing regulations that fuel opportunity for all Americans. With the passage of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, the trajectory of the economy has changed for the better — creating more than one million jobs nationwide, bigger paychecks, increased investment, and historic Main Street optimism, all while enhancing the economic security of hardworking families across the country. The first st...

Washington, D.C. – As Hurricane Florence builds and blows across the southeast, this storm has the potential to cause some serious damage, not just to the Carolinas, but to parts of our home state as well. Governor Deal has issued a state of emergency for all 159 Georgia counties, and President Trump has personally offered his support to the governor during this time. Storms are unpredictable so it is vital that you and your family are prepared and informed. Before we hunker down, it’s important...

Washington, D.C. – August is one of my favorite times of the year because I have the whole month dedicated to spending some quality time with the folks of Georgia’s 10th Congressional District. Hearing from you and learning the issues that are most important to the community is a key part of my job, and I cherish my moments with each and every one of you. Over the past four weeks, I’ve traveled more than 2,300 miles, crisscrossing the state to participate in more than 60 meetings and events. It’...

Washington, D.C. – Since I’ve been in Congress, it’s been a mission of mine to root out waste, fraud, and abuse wherever it occurs in our federal government – which is no small feat. Unfortunately, most people who have dealt – in any way – with the government know two things: progress is slow and the red tape is never-ending. This pattern is deeply ingrained at nearly every level of every agency in an almost systematic way. Simply put, inefficiency is running rampant. Serving as Vice Chairman of...

Washington, D.C. – This week, We the People will gather in cities and towns across the country to celebrate life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and those patriots who throughout our history have bravely championed our American values and unalienable rights. This Independence Day, while you’re grilling, throwing backyard parties, and enjoying time with friends and family, I encourage you to remember what we’re truly celebrating. On the Fourth of July 242 years ago, our Founding Fathers signe...

Washington, D.C. – The opioid epidemic sweeping our Nation has left hardly anyone untouched. Whether it’s a friend or a family member, nearly every American knows someone whose life has been tragically altered by this pervasive problem. In fact, in 2016, significantly more people died from drug abuse than from car accidents. The simple truth is we are in the midst of a profound national crisis. All too often, I hear stories of parents losing their sons or daughters, spouses losing their partners...

Washington, D.C. – There is no greater friend, ally, and strategic partner in the Middle East to the United States than Israel. It is so important that we do everything in our power to ensure that this historically sacred relationship is not only preserved, but strengthened in the months, years, and decades ahead. As part of this effort, Monday marked an important achievement as the United States formally moved its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. The mission to relocate our embassy is not a ...

Washington, D.C. – In today’s world, security matters more than ever – with each and every one of us facing numerous threats in our daily lives. These range from large-scale, international risks coming from rogue regimes, like Iran, to the emergence of sophisticated cyber attacks that breach our digital networks. It’s issues like these that the House Armed Services Committee, of which I am a member, tackled during Wednesday’s markup of H.R. 5515, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal...

Help with a Federal Agency
One of the most important things I do as a U.S. Representative is help people with federal problems. Although I cannot override the decisions made by a federal agency, I can often intervene on a person’s behalf to answer questions, find solutions, or just cut through the red tape. Please know that I cannot force an agency to act in favor of a constituent. However, I can help communicate the circumstances and request that they take appropriate actions to assist you.
